Minions‑themed yard sign staked into the grass, featuring three celebrating Minions with party props and bold blue text that reads “JAMES TURNS 6!!,” creating a bright, cheerful birthday announcement.

Yesterday was James’ 6th birthday, and the gang from the Paw Patrol, one of his favorite shows, called to wish him a happy birthday. I don’t know how they knew it was his birthday, or how they knew our phone number, but it was pretty cool for them to call. Here is a video of that phone call:

Stacy put together a very nice video montage of pictures of James over the past six years. It’s pretty cool to watch him grow up in front of your eyes.

This year’s birthday party theme was Minions from the Despicable Me movies. There is also a prequel movie that came out a couple of months ago, simply called “Minions”. If you’ve never seen any of the previously mentioned movies and have no idea who the Minions are, here’s a trailer to the new “Minions” movie:

Now that we all know who (or what) the Minions are, let’s get to the pictures of James’ party. I’ll apologize in advance for the quality of some of the pictures. They’re not the best, but still worth sharing.

Gray T‑shirt laid flat on a wooden surface, printed with three yellow Minions in blue overalls beside a large yellow number “6” styled with Minion eyes. The playful design suggests a fun, kid‑focused theme with bright cartoon energy.

Small group gathered around an outdoor table as James in a wheelchair holds a stuffed dog while Stacy reads a colorful monkey‑themed birthday card. A man in a Minions T‑shirt stands nearby with a blue cup, and a Hot Wheels gift bag sits on the blue‑covered table, capturing a warm, shared moment during a birthday celebration.

Group gathered outside near the house as Stacy holds up an orange Minions T‑shirt that reads “I’M HOT STUFF” for James seated in a wheelchair to see. Another person snaps a photo on a phone while others stand nearby with a stuffed toy and a cup in hand, capturing a cheerful birthday‑gift reveal.

Minion plates, and napkins add to the coordinated setup, with gift bags on a nearby table, creating a colorful, festive birthday display.

Yellow fondant letters spell out “Happy 6th Birthday To Our Little Minion,” creating a bright, playful centerpiece for the celebration.

If you follow James on Facebook, you may have already seen the video of everyone wishing him a Happy Birthday, but if not, here it is:

It was another fantastic birthday. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, sent gifts, and to Icing Smiles for another awesome cake!

Update Tuesday, September 1st:

We had a little bit of cake left over, so I took it to work on Monday for my coworkers to enjoy. By Tuesday morning, this was all that was left:

Partially eaten slice of yellow‑iced Minion cake on a white plastic plate, with red velvet crumbs scattered around and a plastic knife resting beside it.

I felt like someone was watching me all day!
