August 28th was James’ last day as Agent 007. Now that he is 8-years old, he has hung up his tuxedo and retired.

James lies on a pillow patterned with cartoon owls, wearing a black shirt printed with a tuxedo graphic featuring a red bow tie, a red rose, and a faux ID badge labeled “Top Secret — International Fulkerson Spy Agency — Agent 007 — James Fulkerson.” The image is framed with a black border decorated with white polka dots. At the bottom, bold text reads “007 is retiring,” giving the whole scene a playful, spy‑movie sendoff.

I have a feeling a few of you may be confused and are wondering what the hell I am talking about. For James’ birthday party last year, we did a James Bond theme because it was James’ 7th birthday, and James Bond was Agent 007. Now that he’s no longer 7-years-old, he’s retiring as Agent 007. Get it?

We had his retirement—I mean birthday—party on Sunday and decided to go with a Crazy 8 theme. Don’t ask me how we came up with this theme because I can’t remember. I think we were trying to think of things that went with 8, and Crazy 8 had a nice ring to it. James turning 8 is pretty crazy, right? I don’t think many people thought James would make it this long.

Here are a few pics from the party:

A colorful birthday card features wide vertical stripes in red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. On the left side, a photo shows James wearing sunglasses and sitting in a stroller with a neck pillow. On the right, bold celebratory text reads “Let’s Celebrate. James is Ate!!” with a playful misspelling. Below the text, a blue ribbon graphic displays the number “8!” The overall design feels festive and fun, marking an eighth‑birthday milestone.
Sign in the front yard

A wooden sign hangs on a door, decorated with bright ribbons and playful graphics including a cartoon monkey, balloons, a party hat, and scattered stars. Bold lettering reads “Happy Birthday James” with the word “Celebrate!” underneath. The overall look is colorful and festive, setting a joyful tone for a birthday celebration.

James lies on a pillow patterned with small construction vehicles. He wears a bright blue wig and a colorful tie‑dye shirt with a comic‑style burst graphic that reads “I AM ATE!” The overall look is fun and spirited, capturing a lighthearted, costume‑like moment.
The birthday boy

An dining room is decorated for a celebration, with colorful spiral streamers in red, yellow, and blue hanging from track lighting on the ceiling. The far wall is beige and displays framed pictures, including images of drinks, dice, and cars. The right wall is painted red and holds more framed art, and a “Happy Birthday” sign. Below the artwork is a shelving unit filled with bright gift bags, boxes, and party supplies. A table with chairs sits in front of the shelves, giving the space an organized, festive feel.
Decorations

A cardboard box holds a colorful arrangement of cupcakes decorated with swirled rainbow frosting. The cupcakes are arranged in the shape of the number 8, with multicolored chocolate candies filling the spaces around them. The cake bases appear deep red, giving the whole display a bold, festive look meant for an eighth‑birthday celebration.

A group of children and two adults gather in a carpeted living room. Several kids sit on the floor with small plates of cookies, while others rest on blankets or mats. Two adults sit near the back of the room, each attending to a child. The space includes a wooden coffee table, a red couch, a bookshelf, and a wooden cabinet with decorative items, giving the room a warm, homey feel. The scene looks like a relaxed group activity or playtime in a comfortable home setting.

A group of adults and children gather under a wooden pergola attached to a house, creating a shaded outdoor space with string lights. A rectangular glass‑top table covered with a red checkered tablecloth sits at the center, surrounded by people sitting, standing, and chatting. One person rests in a chair near the wall, while a child lies on a red patterned blanket on the concrete patio floor. The scene feels casual and comfortable, like a family get‑together or relaxed outdoor hangout.

A party table is set with trays of desserts and colorful gift bags lined up against the wall. On the left, a yellow tray holds chocolate chip cookies. In the center, a round cake covered in rainbow candies sits on a wrapped box, with stacks of blue napkins and light‑blue plates in front of it. On the right, two trays of cupcakes with multicolored swirled frosting are surrounded by scattered candies. Behind the treats, rainbow‑striped gift bags labeled with names such as Eleanor, Deacon, Aidan, Luke, Mikey, Nick, and Zach create a cheerful backdrop. The whole setup feels festive and ready for a birthday celebration.

A group gathers indoors around a James seated in a wheelchair, who wears a tie‑dye shirt and plaid shorts. Jeff and Stacy in matching tie‑dye shirts kneel close on either side, smiling and leaning in. In front of them on a table sits a colorful cake decorated with layers of rainbow candies and topped with a single candle. Several people stand in the background near a wooden buffet cabinet with flowers and papers, creating a lively, supportive birthday atmosphere centered around James.
