We have a little bit of a heating issue in our condo. It’s not a problem with our furnace…it’s the way that our condo was designed. When we first bought our condo, one of the things we fell in love with was the vaulted ceiling in the living room and dining room. For whatever reason, the builder decided to put the vents for the air and furnace in the ceiling. While this is fine for air conditioning, because cold air falls, but what does hot air do? If you guessed that warm air rises, you are correct. So, when you have vaulted ceilings, and vents in the ceiling, how much warm air do you think gets down to the floor? Not a lot.

Because of James’ breathing issues as a result of his inability to suck/swallow and clear his own secretions, we give him tummy time several times a day to let gravity drain some of those secretions. Tummy time is usually on the floor, which gets a bit cold because of the heating issue discussed in the previous paragraph. Because James had just come home from the hospital last week, I didn’t want him to get too cold and get sick again, so I ended up putting a winter hat and gloves on him. We might need to invest in a space heater. Or install a ceiling fan that will help bring that warm air down.
