Sometimes the simplest of ideas can change someone’s world. A local 8-year-old girl, Abby, has a younger brother with cerebral palsy. She normally tags along when he goes to the hospital for doctor appointments and noticed that many of the other kids there liked to color.

Last summer after she made a little bit of money from selling lemonade, instead of going out to buy herself something, she bought 36 boxes of crayons and donated them to the kids at the hospital.

This year she wanted to do more and knew that she couldn’t do it on her own, so she recruited help. So far this summer she has purchased over 800 boxes of crayons and is hoping to reach her goal of 1,000 boxes soon. Did I mention that she is only 8 years old?
