Stacy has joined a couple of special needs parent groups on Facebook and somebody had mentioned the Abilities Expo where companies (both local and nationwide) show off their products and services that are designed for those with disabilities. The Expo is held in several cities throughout the year and it happens to be not too far from us this week. We were originally planning on going with James, but since he has been fighting some bug over the past couple of weeks, we decided to keep him home.

Stacy went to the Expo while I stayed home with James. She brought back some info and brochures for things to look into as James gets older. Not much of the stuff there was geared towards babies, but as he gets older, there will be lots of things for us to look at like wheelchairs or walking devices (if he is able to eventually walk), wheelchair accessible vans, special chairs, and other things.

There was even a company there that does home modifications to make a house more accessible. I think eventually we will need to buy a house so that may be something we will look into. As James gets bigger (and heavier), getting him up and down the stairs at our condo is going to become more and more of a challenge.

If you are in the United States and are interested in checking out the Abilities Expo, their website is http://abilitiesexpo.com.

James seemed to be having a good day today. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think he might finally be getting over this bug. We had a boys’ day while mommy was at the Expo. We didn’t do anything special. Just hung out, ate, and watched TV. No complaints, though. I like hanging out with the little man.
