Hallelujah! It looks like Blue Cross Blue Shield came through for us. Stacy received a call today from some pharmacy called Curascript and said that the ACTH shots were approved, it will cost us $35.00 and they will be delivered to the house. Holy crap!

I don’t know how insurance and prescriptions work, but I am curious as to how insurance denied the claim for the ACTH at one pharmacy because the cost exceeded the prescription med cap, but then approved it at another pharmacy. Was the cost of ACTH at Curasript that much lower than our local Walgreens that it was under the cap? What is the cap of prescription meds with our insurance? While I am curious about these questions, part of me doesn’t even care. All that really matters right now is that we are getting the meds that James needs to hopefully get rid of his infantile spasms.

The next step is to schedule an overnight stay at the hospital so that James can be observed after the first dose of the ACTH shots just to make sure there are not any adverse reactions.
