Back at School

After spending most of last week home sick, he went back to school this week. It was a little strange for Stacy to drop him off for school on Monday and not stay with him. Instead, she went home to an empty house. Stacy is not one to sit still, and needs to keep busy, so she focused on getting some of her sewing jobs done. She runs Stacy Rae Creations as a side business and makes g-tube covers (aka tubies), med port covers, and other things geared around special needs. Check her out on Facebook if you are interested in what she has to offer.

James had a good week at school. His one-on-one nurse took really good care of him. He had occupational and speech therapies this week which went well. Even though the therapists did get some notes from the therapists that James had in EI (early intervention), it’s still going to take a little bit of time for them to get to know James, so that they know what they want to focus on during his therapy sessions.

VNS Surgery

James will be having surgery soon to have a VNS implanted. We’re hoping this little device will help control his seizures. Here are a couple of short videos that discuss the VNS and what it does to help control seizures.

The surgery is supposed to be outpatient, but if James doesn’t recover well, they might keep him overnight. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We will plan on posting updates on James’ Facebook page, so if you want to check in to see how he’s doing, that’s the place to go.
