James went back to school on Tuesday for his second year of preschool…or did he?
We have no idea how he was able to skip so many grades with all the school that he missed because he was out sick, but he is in Jr. High now.
No, this wasn’t a mistake. For some reason they moved the special ed preschool to the junior high this year. In addition to being in a new school, he also has a new teacher. Fortunately, he has the same one-on-one nurse he ended the last school year with, so at least he has something familiar.
Look how this kid gets around when they go outside at school. He has it made!
Let’s hope that he spends more time in school and less time home sick this year, although he’s already off to a bit of a rough start. We were planning on going out to dinner on Thursday night for his birthday, but he was a bit congested, so we decided to stay home. I know, it sounds a bit funny to take a kid out to dinner for their birthday when they are tube fed. I think it was really more for Stacy and me.
James got a special call on Thursday from Geoffrey the Giraffe to wish him a happy birthday. You can check out the video on his Facebook page by clicking the link below:

During summer school they found a rainbow arch for James to use for tummy time to help drain his secretions. Stacy thought this was an awesome idea. We normally just lay him on the flat ground for tummy time, but on an arch, with his head a little bit lower, it helps drain those secretions a little bit better. She started looking online and was a bit discouraged by the pricing. Some of these places want $1,000 for one of these things. She didn’t give up, though. She was able to find one through a local place that gave us a nice discount. As a special birthday present for James, we bought him his very own arch to use at home:
In the pic above, Stacy is using one of those vibrating massagers on his back to help loosen up any secretions. This is something new we’re trying to see if we can get more of those secretions out to hopefully keep him healthier so he can spend more time in school this year. James also has an appointment on Thursday with a new pulmonologist, so we’ll see if he has any suggestions on how to handle the congestion and secretions better.
