We went to Back to School Night at James’ school on Monday night. Seems silly to say “back to school” when he hasn’t even started school yet, doesn’t it? For preschoolers who are just starting school, it should be called “Welcome to School Night”, or “Welcome to the First of Fifteen Years of School”. That second one is probably a bit long. We’re still having a hard time with this. We know he’ll be in good hands, but it’s still hard. Nobody can take care of James like Stacy can. Hell, I can’t even take care of James as well as she does!
On Wednesday Stacy and James took a walk to the school to meet with the teacher and therapists to go over everything they need to know about James. Because of James’ medical issues, the district was going to provide a one-on-one nurse for James, but they don’t have one yet. We’re also supposed to be getting a wheelchair for James, but that has not been delivered yet. He might just have to use his stroller until the chair shows up. Not having a nurse might be a problem, though. If they don’t have a nurse for James, Stacy will have to talk with the district and see if she can be his nurse until they find one.
JC Penny was offering free back to school haircuts, so Stacy took him for a haircut. A friend of Stacy’s usually cuts James’ hair so hopefully she won’t be to upset that he went somewhere else.
