Not much has happened over the past two weeks, so I was debating if I even wanted to write this post, or if I wanted to hold off another week. A while back I told myself—and you—that I was going to try to post something every couple of weeks, so here it is. It’s going to be a short, quick read.
Bathroom is Almost Done
In the last post I mentioned that James somehow managed to wiggle his way to the edge of the couch. We weren’t sure what, if anything, we were going to do about it in case it happened again. We ultimately decided to do nothing, which turned out to be the wrong decision. Last week it happened again, but this time he made it further off the side of the couch. Stacy found him with his head on the ground, and his legs still on the couch. This is a bad picture, but you can see his forehead is a little bit red from where he landed on the carpet.
We were a bit angry with ourselves for not doing anything and allowing this to happen, but at the same time, we were a little bit happy that he was able to move himself off the couch. He’s not very mobile, so is it bad that we were happy this happened? Are we bad parents?
We can’t wait until this bathroom is done so James can go back to sleeping in his own bed where we don’t have to worry about him falling off. They keep telling us the bathroom will be done in another week. A week goes by, and it will be done in another week. We can’t really complain, though. We are getting a free bathroom renovation. It’s just hard when all of the contractors involved in the renovation are donating their own time and working around their regular (paying) jobs. It looks like they are close to being done so hopefully not too much longer. As soon as it’s all completed, I’ll post before and after pictures. It’s a totally different bathroom!
Carousels and Garage Sales
Last Wednesday one of the local special needs groups that we’re affiliated with had an ice cream social at a park district facility. James doesn’t eat by mouth so he couldn’t enjoy any ice cream, but I think he enjoyed going on a carousel ride with his daddy.
My sister had a garage sale last weekend and Stacy and James went over Friday afternoon to help out. It was a bit too hot outside for James, so he stayed inside where it was much cooler. Here he is testing out his cousin’s chair:
Urinary Tract Infection
James had been a bit cranky earlier this week and Stacy noticed that his pee had a different, stronger odor. She tested his urine with a urine test strip. The good news is that he’s not pregnant. The bad news is that it came back positive for an infection. We took him to the pediatrician yesterday to have him run a urine culture. He also started James on an antibiotic.
