Health
Well, I jinxed it. In the last post I said that one of the things that we were thankful for was James’ health. It just so happened that shortly after I published that post, Stacy was changing his diaper and his pee had a strong odor to it. This is not the first time this has happened so the following morning Stacy collected a pee sample and took James (and the sample) to the pediatrician after school. Based on the preliminary test of the sample at the doc’s office, he assumed it was a bladder infection and started him on antibiotics. He sent the sample out to get cultured to confirm that it was a bladder infection.
Who schedules a surgery right before Christmas? We do. James will be having new ear tubes put in and will have one of his testicles removed. When he was born, one of his testicles did not drop down into the scrotum like it should have. We were given the option to either have it removed or attempt to bring it down, tack it into place, and see if it holds. We chose the latter option and in February of 2011 he underwent surgery to have it brought down and tacked into place. Unfortunately, it did not hold. On Tuesday the 23rd he will be having surgery to have it removed. Please pray that there aren’t any complications, and he will be able to celebrate Christmas at home and not be in too much pain or discomfort.
The neurologist’s office called to let us know that they have the results of the video EEG (VEEG) that James did a couple of weeks ago. We will be meeting with the neruo on the 26th to go over those results.
School
Last week James went on his first field trip on a bus in his wheelchair with his classmates.
He got attacked by a bear on the field trip, but he survived:
See, he’s okay. This picture was taken on Friday at their classroom Christmas party:
Happiest of Holidays
From our family to yours we want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa, or whichever holiday you celebrate. And since the next post won’t be published until early January, have a happy and safe New Years.
Thank you all for being part of our lives and following James’ journey.
