James managed to remain healthy, so we were able to have a nice Christmas with our families. When I was a kid, my grandparents on my dad’s side drove two hours to spend Christmas Eve at our house. Christmas Day they’d drive back home, and we’d drive for an hour and a half to my grandparents on my mom’s side. It’s nice that we’ve sort of kept that tradition now that I’m married and have a family of my own. It’s also nice that our families live a little closer together. We spent Christmas Eve at my mom’s, which is only about 20 minutes away; Christmas Day we spent with Stacy’s family, which is about a 30-minute drive.
Other than the good food, and quality time spent with family, I’d say the highlight of Christmas this year was witnessing James first kiss from someone other than his mom. Yep, James had his first kiss! Does it count as a first kiss if it’s with your cousin? Stacy’s pretty sure he is going to be a bit of a heartbreaker when he grows up, so I’m sure he’ll eventually have a first kiss with someone outside our family, but for now, here’s a pic of his first kiss on Christmas Eve:
We hope you had a Merry Christmas, and we wish you health and happiness in the coming year.
