A few weeks ago, we found out that James has something called auditory neuropathy which is basically a disconnect between his ears and his brain. His ears can detect sounds, but those sounds don’t make it from the ears to the brain.

Stacy found a video on YouTube that is pretty cool to watch. A baby had his cochlear implant turned on for the first time and his reaction to being able to hear his mom’s voice is priceless. I remember that Stacy did a presentation in college about cochlear implants so I asked if this might be something that would help James. Unfortunately, she doesn’t think so. It’s still a pretty cool video to watch. Imagine not being able to hear, and then, with the flip of a switch, you can hear again.
