I really thought that now that we’re into March the weather would start getting warmer. But Mother Nature just doesn’t want to give us a break. She teased us a few weeks ago when she gave us a couple of days in the 40s, but today, March 2nd, we barely broke into the teens. I think right now it’s about 8 degrees outside. Enough already! James doesn’t handle the cold well.
Eye Doctor
James had a dentist appointment scheduled for February 17th, but Stacy canceled it because of the weather. He had an eye doctor appointment on the 21st, and although she thought about cancelling that one, too because of the weather, they went anyway. It was a good appointment. The doctor said James’ eyes have gotten better. He used to be farsighted, but not anymore. I have no idea what this means, but Stacy said he went from a 4.00 to a 0.75, and it’s almost to the point that he doesn’t need glasses anymore. I didn’t think that was possible, but apparently it is. Even though James may no longer really need glasses, we’re still going to get new prescription glasses so that they can protect his eyes from dust and stuff because he doesn’t blink. Besides, he is so darn cute in glasses, isn’t he?
Did you notice his haircut in the above pic. Yep, he got a little bit of a buzzcut. Here is a not-so-dark picture of his haircut…and without the glasses. I do think he looks better with glasses. What do you think?
Girls
James has a lot of adult fans, but it’s nice to know that he has at least a few that are around his own age:
Do we need to start worrying about this? Do I need to start thinking about having “the talk” with him?
New Stroller
James has a new mode of transportation:
It’s a Special Tomato Jogger. I’m sure I have said this before, and I’m sure I’ll say it many more times in the future, but why the hell is everything special needs so damn expensive?!
Don’t get me wrong, I am glad there are companies that make stuff like this for those with special needs, but do they really need to make them this expensive? This thing was almost $800!! I wonder if it can be classified as a medical expense so maybe we can write it off on our taxes. I’ll have to look into that.
I am a little concerned about it tipping over going around corners because there is only one wheel in the front. When it gets warmer outside, we’ll have to take James for a spin and try it out. If this is something you may be interested in buying, we got it from AdaptiveMall.com.
Fundraiser Update
There are only five more weeks until what we hope will be a very successful fundraiser to raise money for a wheelchair accessible van for James. We’re so grateful for the outpouring of support we have received so far.
We’ve had so many people and companies donate items to be auctioned and raffled off. Most of these auctions and raffles will take place at the event, but we’re also looking at having raffles at other places throughout the area. If you know of any trusting places (restaurants, bars, schools, banks, hospitals, etc.) that would be willing to hang up a Blackhawks or Bears jersey with a note about James to raffle off, please leave us a message on James’ Facebook page.
Someone has told us that they are trying to secure a Patrick Kane Olympic jersey to auction off, too. We’re also looking for some tickets to raffle off, so if you, or someone you know has season tickets to any of the Chicago teams and would be willing to donate a pair of tickets to raffle off, please let us know.
