I’ve been off of work since James came home on the 29th so that I could help out with the transition to home life. I will be going back to work in about a week, so Stacy thought it would be a good idea to start doing things with James without my assistance. The first thing on her list was to take James out for a walk.
We live in what is called a coach home. It is kind of like a small condo with only 4 units. We are on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator, only stairs. Getting James out for a walk is a little bit of work that requires multiple trips. Here is a pic of the stairs that lead up to our condo:
We have one of those car seat / stroller combos and the stroller portion is usually stored underneath the stairs. In order to get James out for a walk, Stacy carried him in his car seat down the stairs and put him in the stroller. Then she went back up to grab his suction machine, pulse oximeter, and apnea monitor, came back down the stairs and loaded all the equipment onto the stroller. When she got back home, she did the same thing all over again, but in reverse.
It was a bit of a struggle and she kept double checking that she had everything she needed. She did it, though. She successfully took James out for a walk all by herself!
Here’s the proof:
I think he enjoyed being outside and getting some fresh air.
