There really hasn’t been much going on these past two weeks, so I really don’t have that much to share. Other than that random fever about three weeks ago, James has been staying healthy.

Last Saturday Stacy had a girl’s night out with James’ previous one-on-one school nurse and one of his teachers. I think this is important, and I encourage it. James has been Stacy’s whole life for the past six and a half years. She needs that break every so often to get away and spend some time with adults. Away from the diaper changes, feedings, medications, breathing treatments, seizures, etc., and have a few hours to relax with friends.

Having a few hours away from James doesn’t mean that she stops thinking about him. We both think about him all of the time. Lately, our thoughts have been about a pretty big what if. We have a retired nurse that babysits James every few weeks so that Stacy and I can go out, which is usually grocery shopping. Exciting, I know, but it’s the spending time together without James that matters. So, what if Stacy and I were on our way to or from the grocery store and are killed in a car accident? What happens to James? Who would take care of him? This is a thought all parents have at some point, right? I think this is tougher for parents of children with special needs, though. It’s a lot to take on. I don’t like to call James a burden, but he kind of will be. He will require around the clock care for the rest of his life. This is what Stacy and I are struggling with right now. We’ve started working on our wills and a special trust for James, so this is something we have to figure out. What happens to James when we’re gone?

I think that’s enough depressing thoughts for one post. How about a picture of Stacy and James. I mean, how can you be sad and depressed when you look at these two? I know I can’t be!

Stacy and James lie close together. Stacy, wearing glasses and a blue top, gently presses a kiss to the forehead of James beside her. James has short dark hair, an open mouth, and wears a red shirt with a fire‑truck design. A floral pillow and red fabric form the background, creating a soft, affectionate scene.
Snuggling with Mommy

He’s almost getting to be too big for snuggles, but we’ll continue for as long as we can.

Random Stuff

Most of you may already know that Stacy is a Thirty-One consultant. She came across an item in the recent catalog that she thought might be good for James’ g-tube supplies, so she ordered it. It is like the perfect size…big enough to hold all of the supplies, and yet small enough to stash somewhere without taking up too much room. It’s called the Timeless Beauty bag, and as you can see, you can have it custom embroidered.

A black fabric bag with white polka dots sits on a colorful checkered surface. A green awareness ribbon is embroidered on the front along with the light‑purple text “Jimmy’s G‑Tube.” The bag has a handle on top and appears designed for storing G‑tube supplies in a neat, personalized way.

An open medical supply kit rests on a multicolored checkered surface. Inside, syringes of various sizes are arranged neatly, some individually wrapped in sterile packaging. Coiled tubing, connectors in purple and clear plastic, and other small medical accessories fill the compartments. The layout is tidy and ready for use, showing a portable setup for routine medical care.

If you’re interested in buying one for yourself, reach out to Stacy on her Facebook page, or at her Thirty-One website.

In addition to being a Thirty-One consultant, Stacy also does some sewing projects on the side. How many of you remember his Halloween costume from last year?

Classroom “Kissing Booth” setup with James seated in an adaptive chair behind a small table covered in a red‑and‑white checkered cloth. A large pink “KISSING BOOTH” sign hangs above the booth, and a clear container labeled “25¢” sits on the table in front. Stacy stands beside the booth smiling.

With Valentines Day coming up, she thought she would make James a special shirt similar to that costume. We often joke about when he’s going to be old enough to start working and help out financially. Let’s see how much money he can make when he wears this shirt.

A black T‑shirt lies flat on a wooden table. Bold red lettering across the front reads “Kisses 25¢,” with the numbers and letters filled in by a pattern of small white arrows. The design has a lighthearted, novelty feel.
