James’ “baby theme” is monkeys. His room is decorated with monkeys. He has monkey blankets. He even has monkey onesies. As a matter of fact, my nickname for him is ‘Monkey Butt’ because he has a set of jammies with a big monkey on the butt. Last year James was Tigger for Halloween because Stacy loves Tigger. This year we decided to go with a monkey themed Halloween.

Pumpkin Carving

Stacy tried to be creative and bring out her artsy side and tried to make a Curious George pumpkin. She started with an image she found online and traced the outline onto the pumpkin:

So far so good. Then she started to carve out what she had traced. Unfortunately, she carved a bit too much and didn’t leave enough to hold it together and it started to fall apart. If you look closely at the picture below, you may be able to see how she tried to use toothpicks to hold it together:

That didn’t quite work either and George’s face fell out:

In the end we were left with this:

Lit candle glowing inside a hollowed pumpkin, casting warm orange light against a dark background.

I have to give Stacy credit, though. Even though it fell apart, it is a lot better than I could ever do.

James’ Costumes

James had two costumes this year. Care to guess what one of his costumes was? A monkey of course! He was even wearing Curious George socks:

For his other costume, we went with something a little more comfortable…Curious James:
