There are so many things going on with James that are beyond our control. There are things about him that we just can’t fix. That doesn’t stop us from trying, though.

I don’t know if this is part of the cerebral palsy, or his muscle tone, or a combination of the two, but his right wrist curls in. I know that he will probably get some sort of professionally made wrist splints to try to correct it eventually, but I made a very crude attempt at making something to help straighten his wrist.

Here is a picture from Christmas. You can see how much his right wrist curls in.

Baby wearing a red‑and‑white Santa hat and a festive white outfit with colorful text reading ‘baby’s first Christmas,’ lying on someone’s lap. A red couch is in the background, with a side table holding a water bottle, a medication container, and a laptop.

I was looking around our condo to see what we had that I could use to make something that would help straighten his wrist and this is what I came up with:

A small child's hand with a light blue Posey velcro strap around the hand, another light blue Posey velcro strap around the wrist, and a Q-Tip underneath them.

We have a few of these Posey wraps that are used to keep the probe for his pulse ox in place. I put one around his wrist and one around his open hand. That white piece you see between the two Posey wraps? A Q-tip.

Like I said earlier, it is very crude. We’ll see if it helps or not.
