October 15th is Infant Loss Remembrance Day. If you’ve recently stumbled across this blog and haven’t read Our Story, we lost our first son, Jackson, to Trisomy 18 before he was born. It was a very dark time for Stacy and me, but somehow we managed to get through it. There are very few days that go by that we don’t think about him. We never got a chance to hold him so we will always wonder what he looked like. Did he look more like me, or more like Stacy? The only pictures we have of him are the ultrasounds.
Tonight we lit a candle and said a few words to Jackson. Even though it’s been almost two years since he put on his angel wings, we still shed a few tears. The wounds still feel pretty fresh. Will they ever heal?
