Stacy posted this on Facebook last night:
“My wish for 2010 is that people will understand that children with disabilities do not have a disease; children with disabilities are not looking for a cure but ACCEPTANCE……..93% of people won’t copy and paste this, WILL… YOU be one of the 7% that does and make this your status for at least a day”
Having a child with disabilities, or special needs, or whatever you want to call it changes your perspective on things. It opens your eyes. James is only 5 months old and we don’t know what his future will look like. We know he will never be normal. Some days that hits us harder than others. But Stacy’s hope (and mine, too) is that James will be accepted for who he is. We are all different and unique in our own ways. James just happens to be a lot different than most people. We don’t know what he understands or how he feels, but I hope that he knows how much we love him. And we hope that he feels nothing but kindness from anyone he meets. We want him to be accepted regardless of his disabilities or limitations. After all, isn’t that what we all want?
