Well this is not good! When we were looking for a chair for James to sit/relax in that would keep him upright and at a good angle so he wouldn’t reflux while he was eating, we came across the Nap Nanny. We bought one to try out and it was perfect for him. He’s been using it for several months. I can’t remember when we actually bought it, but the first picture I could find with him in it was taken in January.
Here are a couple of pics of James in his Nap Nanny. The first pic is from January. We eventually started covering it with a fitted bed sheet so that it would be easier to clean if it got stained. The second pic is from June, covered with a sheet.
We have never had an issue with the Nap Nanny, but James is not very mobile. According to a press release from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), CSPC and the maker if the Nap Nanny, Baby Matters, “have received 22 reports of infants, primarily younger than 5-months-old, hanging or falling out over the side of the Nap Nanny® despite most of the infants being placed in the harness. One infant received a bruise as a result of hanging over the side of the product.”
As a result of injuries sustained while using the Nap Nanny, the CPSC and Baby Matters have announced a voluntary recall of 30,000 Nap Nannys. All of the recalled Nap Nannys were sold at toy and children’s retail stores across the United States and through the manufacture’s website, www.napnanny.com, between January 2009 and July 2010.
If you have a Nap Nanny, the full press release about the recall, including instructions on what to do, is available here:
We’re not sure what we are going to do yet. James is not very mobile so the chances of him falling out of it and hurting himself are very slim so we may do nothing.
