James is still on the IV for his feedings. They are going to try breastmilk again tomorrow, but Stacy doesn’t think that he will keep it down. He is just making so many secretions and is getting suctioned every hour, sometimes multiple times an hour.

They did a chest x-ray to check on the pneumonia and it came back cloudy so they gave him some antibiotics. They took a blood test (CRP) and if they see an infection, they will continue with the antibiotics. If they don’t see an infection from the blood test, they will stop the antibiotics.

One of his nurses told us that since James has no gag reflex, they don’t see bottle feeding happening anytime in the near future. If that’s the case, we will need to consider having a g-tube placed. James currently has a nasal tube for feeding. It is inserted into his nose and travels down to his stomach. A g-tube (gastronomy tube) is surgically placed through the skin of the abdomen and directly into the stomach.
