Stacy’s parents live close to the hospital, so Stacy picked up her mom on the way to see James this morning. He was fussy again this morning when they got there, but he quieted down after Stacy picked him up. Maybe he just needed his mommy.

As discussed in rounds yesterday, they stopped the Reglan, which they were trying to see if it would help his GI tract move more quickly.

The bumped up his feeds from 40 ml over 3 hours to 45 ml over 3 hours.

The physical therapist came by and dropped off several exercises for Stacy to perform on James while she is there. Stacy said James is becoming more limber and allowing her to work his legs and arms. She noted that there is some stiffness in his legs, but they loosen up when she starts working with him. If you haven’t read some of the earlier posts, James has hypertonic muscle tone in his legs which causes them to be tight. Hopefully some of these exercises will help with that.

Stacy has a meeting with the geneticist on Thursday to talk about the genetic testing that has been done.

They took blood for the lysosomal enzyme test and will send it off to Dave Wenger Labs in Philadelphia. If you are interested in what this test is and why they are running it, please refer to either the NICU Day 15 or the NICU Day 21 post. Clicking these links will open up the post in a new tab.
