Stacy had reached out to a doctor in Michigan who does brain surgery to control seizures to see if he thought that James might benefit from surgery. He sent her a message this evening and unfortunately, James is not a candidate for any kind of surgery. We kind of had a feeling this was going to be the case. From the research we’ve done, it seems that brain surgery for seizures is only a possibility if the seizures are localized to a part of the brain. From what we’ve gathered from neurologists here, the damage to James’ brain from the stroke has caused his seizures to start from multiple parts of his brain.
Well, it was worth a shot. We’re just trying to figure out how to fix James. We know he won’t be normal, but if we can just get his seizures & infantile spasms under control, we would be happy.
