When we received James’ preschool registration paperwork about three weeks ago, we were a little bit uneasy about the fact that little James is going to be starting school soon, but I don’t think it really hit us at that point. I think it really started to sink in when we went to visit his school this past Wednesday. Is this really happening? Are we ready to let James leave the nest? Can’t he just stay home with his mommy forever?

It is a nice school not too far from home.  Stacy used to be a special education teacher so being on the other side of the table as a parent is going to take some getting used to for her. The main thing that she is unsure about is the fact that the classroom that James will be in is a blended classroom, which is combination of special needs kids and regular kids. She was hoping that he would be in a self-contained classroom with only special needs kids, but there are currently 12 regular kids and 5 special needs kids registered for preschool at this school. They did talk about the possibility of having half a day self-contained, and the other half being blended so we’ll see if that happens. James’ first day of school will be on his 3rd birthday, August 29th. If you ask me, that is probably the worst birthday gift ever. “Happy birthday kid, now go to school!” I don’t think I was ever a fan of school.

Speaking of James’ birthday, we have set a goal of getting to 500 “fans” of his Facebook page. He currently has 472 fans, so if you haven’t liked and followed his page yet, please do so. You’ll get more frequent updates on all things James.
