If you missed the previous post, James had new ear tubes put in, and his tonsils and adenoids removed on the 12th. The doctor had warned us that day five of recovery would be the worst. I don’t know how he knew, but he was dead on. He seemed to be recovering really well, but then on Monday morning (the 16th), things were a bit different.
When Stacy got him up, she was greeted by an explosive diaper. He also started to have more seizures than he had during the first few days after surgery. All of this is probably his body reacting to the surgery, the anesthesia, and the meds.
Fortunately, things got progressively better the remainder of the week. I do feel a little bit bad for James, though. Because he is unable to eat by mouth, he can’t eat anything to soothe his throat, like ice cream, pudding or Jello. All we can do is give him some pain reliever for the pain and discomfort he must be feeling.
Thank you for all of the well wishes and prayers.
