When you become a member of the special needs community, sooner or later you learn that any adaptive equipment is expensive. We’ve been pretty fortunate so far that most things that James has to make his life more manageable or that has kept him alive has be provided through insurance, early intervention, or through donations. Today somebody that we met through the local special needs community gave James a Special Tomato chair that they no longer needed.

The chair is adjustable so we can position James in an upright position or in a reclined position. Stacy isn’t sure yet if she likes it because James’ feet dangle, which is why James’ feet are resting on his drum in the last picture. It was the only thing we could find that seemed like the perfect height for a footrest. Regardless if we keep it or decide it doesn’t work well for James, when we’re done with it we will pass it on to another child that can use it.
