It’s been a rough couple of months for our little dude. First, he had pneumonia in early July. Then there was the surgery at the end of July to seal up a wound on his tailbone that he had been dealing with since his spinal fusion surgery two years ago. A week after he came home from surgery it was back to the ER for a fever and high heart rate. The ER ran some tests which showed an infection and an abscess by his tailbone. Because of that abscess, they transported him by ambulance back to the hospital where he had the tailbone surgery.  After another four-day hospital stay, he was back home again.

After everything we had been through these past couple of months, we decided that we really needed a vacation. But where to? How about somewhere far away from hospitals and the constant beeping of medical equipment. Somewhere we could just kick back, relax, and enjoy time together as a family. Oh, and it had to be somewhere without a lot of people because Covid is still a thing, and we don’t want James to catch it and wind up back in the hospital. A deserted island sounded like it checked all those boxes, so that’s where we went.
