Stacy and I had a rare opportunity to get out of the house for a bit without James this afternoon. Since it wasn’t night time, we can’t really call it a date night, but date day doesn’t sound right, does it?

The daughter of the pastor that married us is a nurse and offered to babysit James. Absolutely! It is extremely hard to find someone “qualified” to watch James. He requires so much specialized care that we can’t just have anybody watch him. But when a nurse offered to watch him, we jumped at the chance. Of course, we still worried about leaving James with someone else, but we knew he was in good hands.

Stacy and I didn’t do anything exciting. We just grabbed a bite to eat and talked. It was something we haven’t done in a long time. Just talked. For the past year plus most of our conversations have been about James. I assume this is common with all new parents. Once you have a kid, the kid becomes your entire world. We tried to make a point of not talking about James, but we failed. It’s hard to not talk about this adorable little life form that has consumed our lives. We did manage to squeeze in some random thoughts, though.
