One thing that Stacy and I are starting to realize is that it’s hard to find a babysitter for James. It’s not like having a normal kid that just needs be fed, have an occasional diaper change, and be entertained. James requires so much more than that. He needs to be fed via g-tube and feeding pump; he needs to get all of his medications through his g-tube; and he needs to be frequently suctioned because he can’t clear his secretions on his own. It’s a lot for someone to handle.

Stacy finally found someone that was willing to babysit so we could go out to dinner and celebrate our 6-year anniversary. Our last quiet dinner alone was August 28th, 2009, a few hours before James was born. We are nervous about leaving James with someone else, but Stacy has been friends with this woman for many years and we trust that she would take good care of him.

Unfortunately, with James just getting over his latest illness, we decided to cancel our plans. Do you think that James somehow knew that mommy and daddy were going to go out and leave him home with someone else and got sick so we would stay home with him? At least we know that we have someone willing to watch James so that we can go out to dinner. Hopefully we will be able to do it soon.
