We spoke with the neurologist today about med choices to treat James’ infantile spasms.
- We can do 3 weeks of Keppra and then decrease Phenobarbital.
- We can introduce Clonazepam and call him in a week for a follow-up.
- We can start Vigabatrin/Sabril.
If you’ve read my previous posts, you know how we feel about Sabril/Vigabatrin. We are still leaving it as an option, but we’re just not ready to try it yet. We have decided to go with options #1 and #2. James will start taking Clonazepam and then we will add Keppra. We won’t start them both at the same time. And if these don’t work, I don’t think we have any choices left. We will have to put James on Sabril/Vigabatrin. Pray that we don’t have to go that route.
