For those of you that don’t know Stacy that well, she likes to sew. Instead of throwing out or donating James’ old outfits, she decided to cut them up and turn them into a blanket. With everything going on with James lately, I don’t know how she found the time (or the energy) to do this, but she did.

She took all of his outfits that he’s outgrown and cut them into 60 squares:

Stacks of colorful fabric squares arranged on a wooden table beside a tin of pins and a sewing machine, prepared for a quilting or sewing project.

Then she made ten strips of six squares:

Grid of colorful fabric squares laid out on a table, featuring playful monkey‑themed prints and text, with a sewing machine visible at the edge of the workspace.

Next she sewed the ten strips together:

Handmade quilt laid out on a carpeted floor, stitched from colorful rectangular fabric patches featuring playful monkey designs, stripes, and character prints.

Once all of the strips were sewn together, she added brown fleece on the inside:

Handmade quilt displayed on a wooden table, sewn from colorful square fabric patches with playful monkey prints and child‑friendly patterns, with the brown backing partially folded to show the finished quilt.

And voila, here’s the completed blanket:

Handmade quilt laid out on a wooden table, sewn from colorful square patches with playful monkey prints and other child‑friendly designs, with chairs and an iron visible around the workspace.

The blanket is roughly 3 feet wide by 5 feet long so James shouldn’t outgrow it for a while.
