After two weeks off from work, I went back to work full time. It’s going to be rough to work all day and then go visit James and Stacy at the hospital, but I gotta do what I gotta do, right? Since I won’t be there every day, I will have to keep you updated via notes from Stacy from here on out.
We have a family meeting scheduled tomorrow morning at 8:30 am so I will go to the meeting, go to work, and then go back to the hospital after work. After two weeks of poking, prodding and testing, we hope to get some answers as to what happened to James, what issues he has, and what we can expect going forward.
The overnight nurse said that she was suctioning him a little bit more than usual and some of it was milk. They decided to continue with the 15 ml of breastmilk for his feeds but slow it down to 3 hours instead of 2 hours. We’ll see if he handles the slower feeds better. Stacy spoke with the charge nurse about the incident last night where the nurse almost gave James 50 ml instead of the 15 ml he was supposed to get. She said that she would speak with her and not put her with James anymore.
The speech language pathologist stopped by today, but Stacy missed her. Stacy plans to give her a call so she can make sure she is there the next time she stops by. Stacy wants to learn some stuff from her so that she can work with James, too.
Stacy’s dad talked to his cousin who is a neurologist at Boston Children’s Hospital today. He said to make sure to touch James’ legs, arms, face, and body for about 10 minutes three or four times a day. This will help James learn that these are his body parts and this is how they move.
Stacy snapped a picture of me changing James’ diaper so I felt obligated to post it. Proof that daddy changes diapers!
