An audiologist called Stacy to setup an appointment to test James’ hearing on Monday, October 5th at 2:00 pm. They have been having issues testing his hearing in the NICU, so they are going to try something a bit different. They are going to try to test him while he is sleeping on Stacy’s chest and see if that works.

James is going to have his spine looked at by a pediatric orthopedic surgeon to see if there is anything we need to be concerned with. We are not sure when he will be stopping by.

Another change to James feeds. He is now eating 75 ml over an hour. Part of me wishes they would just leave his feeds alone for a while, but another part of me trusts that they know what they are doing. Obviously, James needs a certain number of calories to grow and be healthy, but with these frequent changes to the feeds, how do we really know what he can tolerate? Sometimes I feel like they are pushing him one foot in the right direction, but pushing him too hard, and then having to take two steps back. We just need to trust that the experts know what they are doing, right?

In other news, James is 1 month old today. The nurses made him a nice birthday picture that they put up on the wall behind his bed.

They also made him a 1 Month Old sign that we posed him with.

I don’t know if I’ve said this before, but we have some of the best nurses!
