NICU Day 54

They bumped his feeds from 90 ml to 100 ml over 2 hours. Based on his weight, he should be at 110 ml, but they decided to go with a 10 ml increase instead of 20 ml.

James Just Chillin’

A woman from home health stopped by the NICU to talk with Stacy. We will be getting most of our equipment on Monday to get trained on. Stacy will get trained on the feeding pump on Friday. Eek. This means we’re taking James home soon! Let’s not jinx it!

NICU Day 55

They bumped James’ feeds up to 110 ml over 2 hours so he is finally eating the right amount for his weight. Unfortunately, he did have two G-tube leaks today, but they think it was the way that he was laying on Stacy while eating. One of the nurses took a look and the G-tube is still in place so we don’t need to worry about it. We just need to be a bit more conscious of how James is positioned while he is eating.

James had speech and physical therapies today. Stacy said the both went great.

NICU Day 56

Not much happened today other than James getting the PICC line out.

We’re getting closer to getting James home. As long as he stays stable, well, as stable as he can be anyway, he might be going home next week!! We think we are ready, but at the same time, we’re a bit nervous. Okay, maybe a lot nervous! In the NICU he has nurses caring for him around the clock. When James comes home it will only be Stacy and me. Fortunately, Stacy has spent a lot of time in the NICU over the past two months so I think she has a good handle on what to do. Because of work, I can only get there nights and weekends, so there will be a bit of a learning curve for me. As a team, I think we can handle it. What other choice do we have?

I told you to stop with the pictures!
