This is just going to be a quick update. If you read the last post, you know that James was sick again last week, and the pediatrician wanted to see him on Monday. Stacy and I were praying that the doc wouldn’t admit James to the hospital. Those prayers must have worked, because I am happy to report that James was able to come back home after the appointment.

Because James has been sick on and off for the past couple of months, we have been discussing keeping him home until February or March so we can focus on getting him healthy and avoid sending him out in the cold as much as possible. Besides, as Stacy says, schools are like a petri dish of germs.

Unfortunately, keeping James home to keep him healthy also means that we will probably be staying home for Christmas. We normal spend Christmas Eve with my side of the family, and Christmas Day withy Stacy’s side. Right now it’s all about keeping James healthy, so keep those prayers coming.

He does seem to be getting better day by day. We’re slowly weaning him off of oxygen. He is down to about 2 liters now and keeping his sats in the 90s. Last week he was at 4 liters and was struggling to keep his sats in the 80s. Stacy has placed a call with home health to see about getting a different oxygen concentrator. The one we currently have starts at 2 liters and goes up to 10 liters, so if James needs anything less than 2 liters, we need to switch to oxygen tanks. We’re going to try to get a concentrator that goes under 2 liters, so we don’t have to waste oxygen tanks if he just needs a little boost of oxygen.

Other than oxygen, we’re keeping up with the breathing treatments, giving him extra water to keep him hydrated, and finishing up the round of antibiotics that he started last week. He only has a few days left of the antibiotic so we’ll see if it’s enough to kick this bug out of his system or if the doc will prescribe another round.

Stacy bought some fun letters for the wall outside of James’ room. We will hopefully fill this wall with pictures of James as he gets older. The three pictures on the wall were pregnancy pictures taken before James was born. The one on the right used to say, “To be Opened…”. The photographer edited it after James was born to show his birth date.
